![]() ![]() ![]() OMG, new here and already going down in flames. Some very few manufacturers, Audi included, have a three second lag when both pedals are applied before the throttle cuts, allowing the use of the sporting heel/toe driving technique. ![]() The Toyota issue led directly to the US requirement that electronic throttles must cut out when both throttle and brake are applied at the same time - which most manufacturers interpreted to mean instantly, which makes heel/toe downshifts with rev matching impossible in those cars. So, your ire should be directed at Toyota, not Audi. Toyota tried to hide that they had defective throttle pedal assemblies, and ended up having to pay a $1.2 billion dollar penalty to the US Gov for deliberately misleading US consumers with known false and misleading statements about two different safety issues that caused unintended acceleration. Those were drive by wire systems when their stuck throttle problems were cause for multiple recalls in 2009-2010. There never should have been any scandal, the NHTSA cleared Audi completely, aside from the journalists who created the panic should have been sued. Your memory is faulty - the Audis that were the subject of the stupid “unintended acceleration” screwup by failed “journalists” (60 Minutes) of the 1980s did not have drive by wire throttles, and they also did not have any actual throttle problems - every single case was pedal misapplication by driver error. I am not a fan of drive by wire (damn audi's with their stuck gas pedals started this crap) Honestly, your post is one of the worst efforts of spam endorsement/fake selling that I’ve seen in a long time, about the only thing you left out was your employer’s web site link, but just barely. how can you say you wouldn’t want to be without the Sprintbooster’s “additional on-the-fly fine adjustability of the throttle input ever again!!!”, since you don’t have it on the APR system now? can you please explain how your experience with an APR tune on your turbo Audi has even the slightest relevance to a Sprintbooster on an MX-5? Since they’re completely different, unrelated products, implemented differently on different platforms. Plus, should it not work as expected, or result in some wonky or jerky throttle behavior on the MX-5 naturally aspirated engine platform, there's always their full 30day money-back guarantee. Since MiniMania/SprintboosterSales currently offer $30 off with free shipping, it was an easy decision for me. Just ordered the Sprintbooster V3 for our MY16 MX-5 GT, based on my experience with it on my APR-tuned B8.5 Audi allroad - even though the APR tune remaps the throttle input curve/algorithm of the drive-by-wire system, I wouldn't want to be WITHOUT the Sprintbooster's additional on-the-fly fine adjustability of the throttle input ever again!!! ![]()
